Situated in the heart of Ha Tinh Province, this economic zone embraces Can Loc, Thach Ha and Loc Ha District, Ha Tinh City and Cam Xuyen. It has an area of 146,747ha and a population of 599,714.

 The zone has great potential for developing the mining industry, raising and exploiting aquatic products and developing tourism. Thach Khe’s iron mine and ilmenite mines will serve industries. The transport system includes Highway 1A, provincial road 22/12 running along coastal areas which will be upgraded into a coastal highway and many longitudinal roads and rivers flowing to Cua Sot and Cua Nhuong estuaries. Seven kilometres away from Ha Tinh City to the northeast, exists Ho Do Port which can accommodate 500-tonne ships. The canals, rivers and sea create favourable conditions for catching, raising and processing aquatic products and developing villages with a traditional vocation for exploiting and processing sea products.

The ports and wharfs which shelter boats and ships from storms at Cua Sot estuary can become a complex providing logistic services for the province’s fisheries. Along the coastal routes there are beautiful beaches, such as Thien Cam, Thach Hai, Thach Bang and Thinh Loc, which are connected with historical and cultural relics, such as Uncle Ho’s commemorative area, Vo Mieu and Le Khoi Temples, Dong Loc T-junction, Huong Tich, Chan Tien and Yen Lac Pagodas, Ha Huy Tap’s commemorative area, Ke Go eco-tourist site, which all create favourable conditions for developing tourism.

 This economic zone is an economic, political and cultural centre of the province where many industrial parks have been built and developed, such as Ha Vang industrial park (Can Loc) which is connected with southern Hong Linh Town’s industrial park, the industrial parks of northern and southern Ha Tinh City and Thach Khe iron mine’s industrial park. These industrial parks will make the area a driving force for developing the province.
